About Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet

Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet is used to treat heartburn, indigestion, epigastric pain, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Omeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Omeprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called the gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid. Domperidone works by increasing the contractions of the stomach muscles. Together, Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet helps in treating acidity.

Take Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet 30-60 minutes prior to food. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. Consult your doctor before taking Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. What if I have taken an overdose of Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet as it may cause overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you are taking nelfinavir (anti-HIV); if you have a gastrointestinal haemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or perforation, epilepsy, mania, porphyria, or cardiac impairment.
  • Inform your doctor before taking Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet if you have severe liver or kidney problems; if you are due to have Chromogranin A test; if you experience unexplained weight loss, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet if you have osteoporosis as Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet may increase the risk of bone fractures on long-term treatment.
  • Consult your doctor before taking Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet may cause sleepiness, so drive only if you are alert.
  • Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet should not be given to children as safety has not been established.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Eat smaller meals more often.

Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acid reflux. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This helps in preventing acid reflux.

Dry mouth could be a side effect of Omida D 10mg/20mg Tablet. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help stimulate saliva and thereby prevent mouth dryness.
