Olmezest-AZ 40 Tablet contains two antihypertensive drugs, namely: azelnidipine and olmesartan medoxomil. Azelnidipine inhibits the activity of calcium channels in the heart's arteries. As a result, the blood arteries widen, and the blood supply to the heart increases, decreasing the increased blood pressure and the heart's strain. Olmesartan medoxomil acts by inhibiting the effect of angiotensin receptors that cause blood vessels to constrict. It improves blood flow and increases the heart's efficiency in pumping blood throughout the body. As a result, the risk of a future heart attack or stroke is reduced.
