About Mucodyne Capsule

Mucodyne Capsule belongs to the expectorant or mucolytic agent class. It is generally used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited condition that causes sticky mucus in the lungs and digestive system. This causes lung infections and problems with food.

Mucodyne Capsule contains Carbocisteine, a mucolytic agent (cough/sputum thinner). It works by making mucus (phlegm) less sticky. This makes the mucus easier to cough up.

You should take Mucodyne Capsule as your doctor directed. This medication may show common side effects, including vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, and epigastric discomfort (discomfort in the upper abdomen). Most of these effects subside over time without needing medical care. However, consult a doctor if the side effects worsen or persist.

It is recommended not to use if you are allergic to carbocisteine or any other ingredients in Mucodyne Capsule . This medicine should not be taken during the first three months of your pregnancy. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed unless instructed by the doctor during the therapy. Mucodyne Capsule is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age. A paediatric syrup is available for use in children.

It works by thinning and loosening the mucus, making it easier to cough up and clear from the airways.<br/>• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Mucodyne Capsule is used to manage excessive mucus production in COPD, helping to ease breathing and reduce coughing fits.<br/>• Sinus and nasal congestion: Mucodyne Capsule may be used to relieve blocked sinuses and nasal passages by breaking down mucus, especially in upper respiratory tract infections.<br/>

Directions for Use

• Mucodyne Capsule can be taken with meals, as taking it with meals may help reduce the chance of stomach upset.• Take Mucodyne Capsule as directed by your doctor, and follow the recommended dosage and timing for the best results.• Swallow the whole capsule with a glass of water.• Do not open, crush or dissolve Mucodyne Capsule .

Nausea

Overcome Medication-Induced Nausea: A 9-Step Plan

Inform your doctor about the nausea and discuss possible alternatives to the medication or adjustments to the dosage.
Divide your daily food intake into smaller, more frequent meals to reduce nausea.
Opt for bland, easily digestible foods like crackers, toast, plain rice, bananas, and applesauce.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.
Avoid Trigger Foods: Steer clear of foods that can worsen diarrhoea, such as spicy, fatty, or greasy foods, high-fibre foods, and dairy products (especially if you're lactose intolerant).
Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.

Stomach Ache

Drink water or other clear fluids.
To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.

What if I have taken an overdose of Mucodyne Capsule

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Mucodyne Capsule may include upset stomach (gastrointestinal disturbance). Seek immediate medical attention if you observe these symptoms or think you might have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

Do not use Mucodyne Capsule in more than prescribed doses or longer duration as it may cause adverse effects. Caution should be exercised while using Mucodyne Capsule if you have had an ulcer in your stomach or gut or are taking other medicines known to cause bleeding in the stomach.
