About Mipholate-S Tablet 10's

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ such as a kidney, heart or liver. Transplant rejection occurs when the recipient’s immune system identifies the transplanted organ as a ‘foreign object’ and attacks it.

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's contains mycophenolate sodium, which works by suppressing the immune system, allowing the transplanted graft to avoid rejection.

In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as diarrhoea, cough, muscle pain, low blood pressure, fever and respiratory infections. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not take Mipholate-S Tablet 10's if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. To avoid recurring symptoms, do not stop it midway. Do not take Mipholate-S Tablet 10's if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Mipholate-S Tablet 10's should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. Mipholate-S Tablet 10's should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established.

Uses of Mipholate-S Tablet 10's

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's is used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone a kidney, heart, or liver transplant. The detailed uses of Mipholate-S Tablet 10's are as follows:

  • Used with other medications: Mipholate-S Tablet 10's is commonly administered alongside other immunosuppressants to enhance effectiveness.
  • Maintains graft function: Mipholate-S Tablet 10's supports the long-term survival of the transplanted organ by reducing immune activity.

Directions for Use

  • Mipholate-S Tablet 10's should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating or drinking.
  • Follow your doctor's instructions regarding the dosage and duration for effective results.
  • Swallow Mipholate-S Tablet 10's as a whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break it.

Medicinal Benefits

  • Mipholate-S Tablet 10's contains Mycophenolate mofetil, an immunosuppressant used primarily in organ transplant recipients.
  • It helps the body accept transplanted organs (like the kidney, heart, or liver) by suppressing immune responses.
  • Mipholate-S Tablet 10's inhibits the function of white blood cells (T and B lymphocytes), which are responsible for attacking transplanted organs.
  • It enhances the long-term success of organ transplantation.
  • Mipholate-S Tablet 10's is often used along with other immunosuppressants like tacrolimus or cyclosporine for optimal effect.
  • Preferred over long-term use of corticosteroids due to fewer chronic side effects.

How Mipholate-S Tablet 10's Works

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's contains Mycophenolate sodium used in the treatment of organ transplant rejection, along with another immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory agent. It inhibits T and B lymphocytes (white blood cells that attack foreign cells) and suppresses antibody production (identifies and kills foreign cells). These effects suppress the immune system so that the transplanted graft is not rejected.

FAQs

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ such as a kidney, heart‚ or liver.

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's belongs to the group of medications called immunosuppressants. It works by weakening the immune system by inhibiting the production of cells or antibodies that attack foreign cells. This effect helps in stopping the immune system from targeting and rejecting the transplanted organ.

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's causes leukopenia (decreased number of white blood cells) and hence may make you more susceptible to infections. Consult your doctor if you develop any signs of infection, such as fever, sore throat, breathlessness, jaundice, unexplained bleeding or bruising.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Mipholate-S Tablet 10's. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience prolonged diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.

Mipholate-S Tablet 10's can suppress the immune system and can increase the risk of skin cancer. So, it would be best if you avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Also, wear protective clothing covering your head, neck, arms and legs, and use a sunscreen lotion with a high SPF (sun protection factor).
