About Metopt AM Tablet

Metopt AM Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure/hypertension and angina pectoris. High blood pressure is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels. Angina is basically a pain in the heart and chest.

Metopt AM Tablet contains Metoprolol succinate and Amlodipine. Metoprolol works by slowing down the heart rate, thereby making it more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow.

In some cases, Metopt AM Tablet may cause certain common side effects such as tiredness, dizziness, headache, ankle swelling and slow heart rate. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention. However, talk to your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

It is advisable to inform the doctor if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. Avoid consuming alcohol with Metopt AM Tablet as there may be an interaction. Metopt AM Tablet  may cause dizziness; therefore, drive only if you are alert.

What if I have taken an overdose of Metopt AM Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Overdose of Metopt AM Tablet may cause low blood pressure, slow pulse rate, shortness of breath, low blood sugar, dizziness, feeling sick and blue discolouration of the skin. Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine.

  • Metopt AM Tablet should not be used in case of any known allergy to either of the components. 
  • Metopt AM Tablet should be used with caution in case of high risk or previous history of any arterial or thrombotic disorders, shock, cardiovascular health disorders, diabetes, heart failure, or any disease-causing psoriasis.
  • Please inform your doctor in case of any history of an overactive thyroid, asthma, phaeochromocytoma (high BP due to a tumour in the adrenal glands), myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disorder), COPD, heart block, liver disease or renal disease.

  • Keep your doctor informed in case you are waiting to undergo any surgery or dental procedure.

  • Cut back on foods that are high in fat and cholesterol.
  • Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole-grain foods.
  • Avoid taking Metopt AM Tablet with grapefruit juice as there may be an interaction.
