ICOS 1G Capsule is used together with lifestyle changes (diet, weight loss, exercise) to lower high cholesterol, increased cholesterol levels, and triglycerides in the blood. High cholesterol is a condition in which you have high levels of lipids (fats) in your blood.

ICOS 1G Capsule contains Icosapent Ethyl, which works by decreasing the amount of triglycerides and other fats made in the liver. This helps lower the chance of a heart attack, stroke, or other heart issues that need to be hospitalised in some patients with high triglyceride levels, heart disease, or diabetes who also have two or more additional heart disease risk factors.

In some cases, you may experience side effects like musculoskeletal pain, peripheral oedema, constipation, gout, atrial fibrillation, arthralgia (pain in a joint), and oropharyngeal (middle part of the throat) pain. If the side effects persist, contact your doctor.

Avoid taking ICOS 1G Capsule if you are allergic to Icosapent Ethyl or any other component in this medicine. It is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or for children and young adults under 18.

• Cardiovascular risk reduction: ICOS 1G Capsule is used alongside statin therapy to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in adults with established heart disease or diabetes and additional risk factors.
• Severe hypertriglyceridemia: ICOS 1G Capsule is used with a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet to lower very high triglyceride levels (≥500 mg/dl) in adults. Elevated triglycerides can increase the risk of pancreatitis and cardiovascular disease.
• 3 fatty acid therapy: As a purified form of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), ICOS 1G Capsule helps regulate lipid metabolism and reduce inflammation, without significantly raising LDL cholesterol like some other omega-3 formulations.

• ICOS 1G Capsule can be taken with food or as advised by the doctor.
• It is usually recommended to take twice daily; however, follow your doctor’s advice regarding the dosage and duration.
• Swallow ICOS 1G Capsule as a whole with water.
• Do not crush, break or chew it.
