Gretacal Injection 10 ml

Your doctor may prescribe Gretacal Injection to help manage the following conditions:

• Severe hypocalcaemia (low blood calcium): Rapidly raises calcium levels in the bloodstream to treat or prevent symptoms such as severe muscle cramps, spasms, numbness, tingling, or seizures caused by acute calcium deficiency.
• Calcium deficiency tetany: Helps relieve painful involuntary muscle contractions and increased nerve excitability caused by a sudden fall in blood calcium levels.
• Hyperkalaemia affecting the heart: Used in emergency situations to help protect the heart from the harmful effects of dangerously high potassium levels while other treatments work to lower potassium.
   

Gretacal Injection helps restore calcium levels quickly in emergency situations where prompt treatment is essential.
 

• Rapidly restores calcium levels: Delivers calcium directly into the bloodstream for fast correction of severe calcium deficiency.
• Relieves symptoms of acute hypocalcaemia: Helps reduce muscle spasms, cramps, numbness, tingling, and other symptoms caused by low calcium levels.
• Supports normal heart function: Helps stabilise the heart during serious electrolyte disturbances, particularly in emergencies involving dangerously high potassium levels.
• Provides calcium when oral treatment is not suitable: Because it is given directly into a vein, it can be used when patients cannot swallow medicines or require immediate calcium replacement.

• Eat calcium-rich foods: Once your calcium levels have been corrected, include calcium-rich foods such as milk, yoghurt, cheese, leafy green vegetables, and calcium-fortified foods, as recommended by your doctor.
• Maintain adequate vitamin D levels: Get enough vitamin D through safe sunlight exposure or dietary sources such as oily fish and egg yolks because vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium effectively.
• Limit alcohol and caffeine: Excessive alcohol and caffeine may reduce calcium absorption and increase calcium loss over time.
• Stay well hydrated: Drinking enough water helps support normal kidney function and may reduce the risk of kidney stone formation.
• Avoid smoking: Smoking may interfere with bone health and calcium balance over time.
   

• Report injection site discomfort immediately: Tell your doctor or nurse straight away if you notice burning, stinging, pain, or swelling while the injection is being given.
