About Forglyn Respicap

Forglyn Respicap used for long-term, maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is a group of lung diseases with emphysema (shortness of breath) and chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchial tube lining). In COPD, the muscles around the airways tighten, making it difficult to breathe.

Forglyn Respicap is a combination of two medicines, namely: Formoterol fumarate (long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist) and Glycopyrronium (anti-cholinergic). Formoterol fumarate prevents tightening of the muscles in the airways, making it easier for the air to get in and out of the lungs. Glycopyrronium decreases the secretions in the airways. Together, Forglyn Respicap provides relief from COPD.

You are advised to use Forglyn Respicap for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as headache, nausea, dry mouth, chest pain, muscle cramps, dizziness, and frequent urination. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Do not stop taking Forglyn Respicap on your own, as it might cause worsening of symptoms. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Forglyn Respicap may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might cause increased dizziness.   • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safe and effective use.
  • Capsule/Respicap/Rotacap: Check the label for instructions before using this medication. Place Forglyn Respicap at the base of the rotahaler/inhaler/respihaler and twist the mouthpiece until you hear a clicking sound. Breathe deeply through the mouthpiece and hold your breath for 10 seconds.
  • Forglyn Respicap is for oral inhalation only. Do not swallow Forglyn Respicap .
  • Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after using Forglyn Respicap to avoid fungal infections in the mouth and throat.

Side effects of Forglyn Respicap
Here are the steps to manage the medication-triggered Cough:
  • Tell your doctor about the cough symptoms you're experiencing, which may be triggered by your medication.
  • Your doctor may adjust your treatment plan by changing your medication, adding new medications, or providing guidance on managing your cough symptoms.
  • Practice good hygiene, including frequent handwashing, avoiding close contact with others, and avoiding sharing utensils or personal items.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, such as water, tea, or soup, to help thin out mucus and soothe your throat.
  • Get plenty of rest and engage in stress-reducing activities to help your body recover. If your cough persists or worsens, consult your doctor for further guidance.
  • Chest pain may last for a while and needs immediate medical attention as it is a significant health issue to be attended to.
  • Take rest and refrain from doing physical activity for a while, and restart after a few days.
  • Try applying an ice pack to the strained area for at least 20 minutes thrice a day. Ice pack thus helps reduce inflammation.
  • Sit upright and maintain proper posture if there is persistent chest pain. • Use extra pillows to elevate your position and prop your chest up while sleeping.
  • Rest well; get enough sleep. This helps the body fight infection.
  • Keep yourself hydrated by drinking enough water and other fluids.
  • Wash your hands often and avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose.
  • Wear a mask whilst going out.
  • Warm steam or a hot shower may help with nose secretions.
  • Avoid contact with others to prevent contamination.

  • Consult your doctor if you experience symptoms of sinusitis, such as nasal congestion, facial pain, or headaches, which may be triggered by your medication.

  • Practice good hygiene, including frequent handwashing, avoiding close contact with others, and avoiding sharing utensils or personal items.
  • If your doctor advises, you can use nasal decongestants or saline nasal sprays to help relieve nasal congestion and sinus pressure.
