About Esomefa DSR Tablet

Esomefa DSR Tablet belongs to the class of drugs known as Proton pump inhibitors, which reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces. It treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to a pancreatic tumour), duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and Crohn’s disease-associated ulcers.

Esomefa DSR Tablet is a combination of Esomeprazole and Domperidone that helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase, also known as the gastric proton pump), thus preventing the release of stomach acid and relieving symptoms of food pipe lining inflammation (esophagitis), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn.

Not everyone who is taking Esomefa DSR Tablet will get these side effects. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve over time. However, if you experience these side effects persistently, talk to your doctor.

Take Esomefa DSR Tablet as advised. Your physician will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. You should take Esomefa DSR Tablet 30 minutes before food. It is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose of Esomefa DSR Tablet . Do not chew, crush, or break the medicine.

What if I have taken an overdose of Esomefa DSR Tablet

  • Avoid taking Esomefa DSR Tablet if you are allergic to Esomefa DSR Tablet or have any history of gastric cancer, liver disease, low magnesium levels, or low vitamin B1.
  • Inform your doctor before taking Esomefa DSR Tablet if you have severe kidney, heart or liver disease, or if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems or HIV infection.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience weight loss, problems with swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools while taking Esomefa DSR Tablet .
  • On long-term treatment, Esomefa DSR Tablet may cause low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 levels, and might increase the risk of bone fractures; the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Esomefa DSR Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert.
  • Avoid caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, tea), spicy/deep-fried/processed foods, carbonated drinks, and acidic foods like citrus fruits/vegetables (tomatoes).
  • Esomefa DSR Tablet should not be given to children as safety has not been established.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol along with Esomefa DSR Tablet as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid.
  • A prolonged intake of Esomefa DSR Tablet is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, so if you develop diarrhoea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor.
