About Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet

Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a lifelong or chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes too high. This can lead to complications such as heart attack, irregular heartbeat, kidney damage, and eye problems.

Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet contains two active ingredients: chlorthalidone (a diuretic or water pill) and Efonidipine (a calcium channel blocker). Chlorthalidone removes excess water and salts from the body by increasing urination, thereby reducing blood pressure. Efonidipine prevents calcium from entering the blood vessel walls, relaxing the vessels and lowering blood pressure.

Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet should be taken as advised by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the dose and duration of the medication based on your health condition. Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet may cause common side effects such as headache, dizziness, sweating, oedema (swelling caused by excess fluid), loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, palpitations (racing or pounding heart), hot flushes (sudden feelings of warmth), and hypotension (decreased blood pressure). Most of these side effects usually resolve on their own over time without requiring medical attention. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Before using Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet , inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components, penicillin, or sulphonamide antibiotics. Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet should be used with caution in elderly patients, starting with the lowest recommended dose, as they are at high risk of reduced kidney, liver, or heart function. Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet is not recommended for patients with certain medical conditions, such as severe liver failure, severe kidney failure (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min), anuria (no urine production), low blood pressure (less than 90 mm of Hg), severe electrolyte imbalances (including low levels of potassium, sodium, or magnesium in the blood), Addison's disease (a condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones), and a history of uric acid kidney stones or gout. Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women unless advised by a doctor. Efnocar-CT 40/12.5 Tablet is not recommended for children under 18 years old due to a lack of information for this age group.
