About Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet

Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet belongs to the class of medications called “anti-emetics” primarily used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) during pregnancy. Morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) is a common symptom of pregnancy. It is usually happening within the first trimester (first four months) of pregnancy, but some pregnant women have it throughout pregnancy. In some cases, pregnant women experience excessive nausea and vomiting that progresses to a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It causes electrolyte imbalances and weight loss in pregnant women. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which a person feels an urge to vomit while vomiting is the natural response of the body to discharge the stomach content forcefully.

Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Doxylamine and Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) used to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. It prevents the feeling of nausea and sickness in pregnant women. Besides this, it also provides nutrition to the body. Doxylamine belongs to the class of antihistamines that works by blocking the natural chemical (histamine) in the body, thereby preventing nausea and vomiting. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is a form of vitamin. Vitamin B6 deficiency may cause nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Pyridoxine works by increasing the level of vitamin B6 in the body and treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as dizziness, stomach pain, constipation, and dry mouth. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

If you are allergic to Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. What if I have taken an overdose of Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include confusion, dizziness, restlessness, dry mouth, dilated pupils, seizures (fits), muscle pain or weakness, fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat or drowsiness. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Do not take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents. Tell your doctor if you are dealing with asthma, increased eye pressure, narrow-angle glaucoma, stomach ulcer, a blockage in your gut (digestive tract), liver problems or any other problem. Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for depression and cough or cold medicines, sleeping medicines, or certain pain medicines. Taking Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet with tranylcypromine can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome(a condition in which a chemical called serotonin increase in your body).

How to manage the interaction:
There may be a possibility of interaction between Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet and Tranylcypromine, but can be taken together if prescribed by a doctor. However, consult a doctor if you experience confusion, hallucination(seeing and hearing things that do not exist), fits, blood pressure alteration, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, pain in the muscles or stiffness, incoordination, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
