Doxcef CV Syrup is used to treat various bacterial infections such as pharyngitis/tonsillitis (throat infections), otitis media (ear infections), sinusitis (infection of the sinuses), community-acquired pneumonia, gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted disease), anorectal infections in women, skin, and urinary tract infections.
Doxcef CV Syrup works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, necessary for their survival. Thereby, kills the bacteria.
Doxcef CV Syrup may cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD). Treatment with antibiotics alters the normal flora leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile; this causes diarrhoea. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience prolonged diarrhoea with abdominal pain, stop taking Doxcef CV Syrup and consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Do not stop taking Doxcef CV Syrup despite symptomatic relief. To treat your condition effectively, continue taking Doxcef CV Syrup for as long as it has been prescribed for you.
Do not take Doxcef CV Syrup on your own, as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance, in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.
Doxcef CV Syrup usually begins to work soon after taking it. However, it may take few days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
If you don't feel better after completing the full course of treatment with Doxcef CV Syrup, inform your doctor. Also, let your doctor know if your symptoms are worsening while taking Doxcef CV Syrup.
The use of Doxcef CV Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Penicillins or any excipients in Doxcef CV Syrup. It should also be avoided by patients with a previous history of liver damage associated with Doxcef CV Syrup.
No, you are recommended not to take oral contraceptive pills while taking Doxcef CV Syrup as it may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Therefore, discuss with your doctor about using a birth control method which does not affect your hormone levels (such as a diaphragm, condom, and spermicide).
No, do not take higher than the recommended dose of Doxcef CV Syrup as it may increase the risks of side effects. If your symptoms worsen while taking Doxcef CV Syrup, please consult the doctor.
Store Doxcef CV Syrup at room temperature. Protect from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children.
