Domifit Drops is an antiemetic medicine. It is used to treat vomiting (being sick) in infants and children. Besides this, it also helps treat indigestion. In children, vomiting is a symptom of milk intolerance or food allergy.
Domifit Drops contains domperidone, which is a dopamine antagonist. It works by blocking receptors for dopamine and serotonin, which stimulate the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) in the brain. It increases the motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract and helps decrease gastric emptying time.
Domifit Drops causes dry mouth as a side effect in your child. If this side effect worsens, please consult your paediatrician. Domifit Drops should be given as advised by your doctor. Symptoms of nausea and vomiting may usually resolve within 3-4 days after taking Domifit Drops. However, if it does not resolve even after this, stop giving this medicine to your child and contact the paediatrician.
Domifit Drops is intended for paediatric use only. Avoid giving Domifit Drops to your child if she/he is allergic to any of the components present in the formulation. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition, including his current medications and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions.
