Dolo-Mf Susp is a paediatric medicine that combines paracetamol and mefenamic acid (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID). It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever in children. Seeing your child unwell can be worrying, but giving Dolo-Mf Susp exactly as prescribed and ensuring your child gets enough rest and fluids can help support their recovery. Dolo-Mf Susp should only be given to children of the age recommended by your doctor or according to the approved product information and is generally not recommended for infants below 6 months of age unless specifically prescribed.
Give Dolo-Mf Susp to your child exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the product label. Giving each dose at the recommended time helps provide consistent pain and fever relief. Always give this oral liquid with food or milk to reduce the chance of stomach irritation. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids and get adequate rest while recovering.
Most children tolerate Dolo-Mf Susp well, although some may develop mild side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, drowsiness, or stomach discomfort. These effects usually improve as Dolo-Mf Susp leaves your child's system over the next few hours. Seek immediate medical attention if your child develops severe stomach pain, vomits blood, has black stools, develops a severe skin rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
Before giving Dolo-Mf Susp, tell your doctor if your child has liver disease, kidney disease, asthma, stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, G6PD deficiency (a genetic condition that affects red blood cells), or has ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, mefenamic acid, aspirin, or other NSAIDs. Do not give Dolo-Mf Susp to children with active stomach bleeding, severe liver or kidney disease, or a known allergy to any of its ingredients. It is generally not recommended for infants below 6 months of age unless specifically prescribed.
Some medicines may interact with Dolo-Mf Susp and increase the risk of side effects or reduce how well it works. Inform your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vitamins, and supplements your child is taking before starting treatment. If you are unsure whether another medicine contains paracetamol or another pain reliever, ask your doctor or pharmacist before giving it to your child.
