About Dexpured Capsule

Dexpured Capsule belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat acidity, heartburn, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia (indigestion), and peptic ulcers. The stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to acidity-related problems.

Dexpured Capsule is a combination of two drugs, namely: Dexrabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Dexrabeprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid. Domperidone works by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscle. Together, Dexpured Capsule helps in treating acidity related problems.

You are advised to take Dexpured Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. Consult your doctor before taking Dexpured Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Dexpured Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Dexpured Capsule is not recommended for children as safety has not been established. What if I have taken an overdose of Dexpured Capsule

Take Dexpured Capsule only as prescribed by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Dexpured Capsule if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have severe kidney, heart or liver disease, or if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems, HIV infection, blockage in intestines, pituitary gland tumour, low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood. Talk to your doctor if you experience weight loss, problems with swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools while taking Dexpured Capsule . Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Dexpured Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Eat smaller meals more often.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increasing acidity and heartburn.
  • Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.
  • Avoid lying down after eating as it causes acid reflux.
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes as it might increase the pressure on the abdomen leading to acid reflux.
  • Practise relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
  • Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda. 
  • Avoid sitting continuously as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5 minutes every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Dexpured Capsule . Drink enough fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if you have severe diarrhoea or if you find blood in stools.

Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acid reflux. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This helps in preventing acid reflux.

Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Dexpured Capsule . Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help stimulate saliva and thereby prevents drying of the mouth.

Do not take Dexpured Capsule for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve even after taking Dexpured Capsule for 14days.

On long-term treatment, Dexpured Capsule might increase the risk of bone fracture in the spine, wrist or hip. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids, as they can increase the risk of bone fractures.
