Dessin Nasal Spray

Dessin Nasal Spray is primarily used as replacement therapy in central cranial diabetes insipidus. It is also used to manage temporary polyuria (extreme urination) or polydipsia (extreme thirst) after head trauma or surgery in the pituitary gland.

Dessin Nasal Spray contains Desmopressin, which mimics the natural hormone vasopressin and works by reabsorbing water from the kidneys, which controls excessive thirst and urination. Thus, it prevents dehydration. 

Common side effects of Dessin Nasal Spray include conjunctivitis/red eyes, weakness, headache, nasal congestion/stuffy nose, rhinitis/runny nose, nosebleeds, nausea, and upset stomach. If the side effects persist or worsen, seek a doctor's advice.

Let your doctor know if you have severe kidney disease, hyponatremia (low sodium levels), excessive fluid intake, high blood pressure, heart problems/failure, swelling or scarring of the nasal lining, or illnesses that cause fluid/mineral imbalance.

Dessin Nasal Spray is used in the treatment of central cranial diabetes insipidus, polyuria, and polydipsia. The detailed uses of Dessin Nasal Spray are as follows:

• Treat central diabetes insipidus: Dessin Nasal Spray replaces the natural antidiuretic hormone (vasopressin) to reduce excessive urination and thirst caused by a deficiency in this hormone.
• Manage nocturnal polyuria (frequent nighttime urination): Dessin Nasal Spray helps adults who wake up multiple times at night to urinate by decreasing urine production during sleep.

• It is advised to use Dessin Nasal Spray once daily; however, follow your doctor’s recommendation regarding the dosage and duration.
• Read the instructions on the label before using. Prime the nozzle, if required. Blow your nose. Tilt your head back and insert the tip of the nozzle into your nostril. Spray into the nostril while breathing in slightly. When pressing down the pump, apply even pressure and press down quickly to produce a consistent spray. Repeat the same process for another nostril if required.
• Wipe off the tip with a clean tissue and replace the cap.
