About Dermotrex 1% Gel

Dermotrex 1% Gel belongs to the class of medicines called 'anti-metabolites and immunosuppressants' used to treat severe psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which skin cells multiply faster than usual. This causes scaling, redness, and thickness of the skin. Psoriatic patches generally occur on the knees, elbows, scalp, and lower back.

Dermotrex 1% Gel contains 'Methotrexate', which works by suppressing the overactive immune system that is responsible for causing psoriasis.

In some cases, Dermotrex 1% Gel may cause common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, mouth sores, and loss of appetite. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Consult your doctor if you have a weak immune system, low blood cell count, liver or kidney problems. Do not use Dermotrex 1% Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. What if I have taken an overdose of Dermotrex 1% Gel

Use Dermotrex 1% Gel in prescribed dosage only. An overdose of Dermotrex 1% Gel may cause symptoms like a burning sensation of the skin, pruritus, urticaria, ecchymosis and reversible alopecia, sloughing over pressure points, acute ulcerations of psoriatic plaques, severe mucositis, and reactivation of phototoxic responses. Seek emergency medical help if you face any of these symptoms.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Dermotrex 1% Gel if you are allergic to any of the contents. Avoid using Dermotrex 1% Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you have immunodeficiency conditions, bone marrow problems, low white blood cell count, low platelet count, serious anaemia, liver or kidney problems, ulceration in the stomach or bowels, poor general condition, received any vaccinations or if are due to have any, diabetes, ascites (fluid in the stomach area), lung problems or fluid in the lungs.

  • Include foods such as cherries, berries, leafy vegetables, salmon, sardines, and fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Consume antioxidant-rich spices and herbs like cumin, ginger, sage and thyme.
  • Avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and fatty foods.
  • Limit intake of food that might trigger allergies, such as dairy products, soy, eggs, and nuts.
  • Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and fish in your diet.
