About Deftremag Injection 2 ml

Deftremag Injection 2 ml is a mineral supplement, and an anticonvulsant primarily used to prevent and control seizures (fits) in preeclampsia and eclampsia (serious complications in pregnancy that occur due to high blood pressure). Deftremag Injection 2 ml is also used to treat hypomagnesaemia, a condition characterized by abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood.

Deftremag Injection 2 ml contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and an electrolyte. It prevents and controls seizures by blocking neuromuscular transmission, the transfer of nerve impulses to the heart. It further has a depressant effect on the central nervous system and acts peripherally to cause vasodilation.

Deftremag Injection 2 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional. It causes some side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, flushing, and sweating. Most of these effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. If you think there has been an overdose or experiencing any adverse events, get medical care right away. In a medical setting, an overdose would be treated quickly. Overdose of Deftremag Injection 2 ml may cause flushing, sweating, hypotension, weakness, hypothermia, circulatory collapse, cardiac, central nervous system depression, respiratory paralysis, cardiac arrest, and prolongation of PR and QRS intervals.

Deftremag Injection 2 ml can cause dizziness and drowsiness affecting your ability to drive; hence drive only when you are alert and focused. Deftremag Injection 2 ml is not recommended in children younger than 12 years of age.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Meditation, walking, involving in a task, and smelling a strong odour are a few self-control methods to prevent seizures.
  • Rest properly, and avoid stress by doing meditation or yoga.
  • Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Include Vitamin D-rich foods like fatty fish, mackerel, tuna, dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, cereals, beef liver, cheese, and egg yolks in your diet.
  • Also, it is advised to take folic acid and vitamin K-rich foods and supplements during pregnancy.
