About D.T. Amp

D.T. Amp is a protective vaccine used to build active immunity against two highly serious bacterial infections: diphtheria and tetanus. This vaccine is not a daily medication; instead, it is injected on a highly specific schedule determined by your doctor, such as a primary childhood series or a routine booster shot every ten years. You can receive this injection at any time of day, as it does not require you to fast or alter your normal eating schedule beforehand. To help your body build a strong, healthy immune response, it is helpful to eat nutrient-rich foods and stay well-hydrated leading up to your appointment.

How D.T. Amp Works

D.T. Amp contains diphtheria toxoid and tetanus toxoid, a combination vaccine made from purified, inactivated toxins (called toxoids) derived from the bacteria that cause diphtheria and tetanus. Because these toxins have been purified and inactivated, they cannot cause the actual diseases, but they remain highly effective at training your immune system. When injected, the two components work together in the body: Tetanus toxoid introduces a harmless version of the tetanus toxin to your immune cells. Your body responds by creating specialised antibodies that can quickly recognise and neutralise the active toxin if you are exposed to the bacteria through a wound. Diphtheria Toxoid works similarly by presenting an inactive form of the diphtheria toxin. It teaches your immune system to block the real toxin from attacking healthy cells in your throat, nose, and heart.
