Cyprowal Syrup belongs to a group of combination medicines called 'appetite enhancers' used to stimulate the appetite and treat alimentary tract and metabolism problems. Cyprowal Syrup helps treat lack of appetite, weight loss, and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder with low body weight). Besides this, it is also prescribed for underweight children with inadequate dietary intake, loss of appetite, anaemia, liver/digestive disorder, antiretroviral (anti-HIV drugs) treatment for weight gain, and adjunct to anti-tubercular (anti-TB drugs).

Cyprowal Syrup combines three drugs: Lysine, Cyproheptadine and Peptone. Lysine is a building block of essential proteins which improve appetite and digestion. Cyproheptadine works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger in the hypothalamus called serotonin, thereby stimulating the appetite. Peptone increases the production of a protein (cholecystokinin) which controls appetite and food intake.

Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Cyprowal Syrup for as long as your doctor prescribes it. Cyprowal Syrup is generally safe to use. However, some may experience side effects like dry mouth, drowsiness, confusion, and ataxia (impaired balance or coordination).
