About Crotorax Cream

Crotorax Cream belongs to a class of medicines called scabicides and antipruritics used to treat scabies and itchy skin. Scabies is a skin infection caused by mites. It is contagious and spread from one person to another with physical contact. Patients with scabies experience rashes and persistent itching in the infected area, which worsens at night. 

Crotorax Cream contains Crotamiton, which works by killing the mites which cause scabies. Irritation from the mites leads to severe itching and small bumps/blister filled with fluid/pus. It also helps relieve itching related to scabies and other skin conditions. Crotorax Cream evaporates from the skin and produces a cooling effect. This cooling effect helps to divert the body's attention away from the itching.

Crotorax Cream is available in the topical (for skin) forms of cream and lotion. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Crotorax Cream has common side effects like skin irritation, redness and a burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if you face any other symptoms or the side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Do not take Crotorax Cream if you are allergic to any of its components.   • Keep your skin hydrated and healthy with gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers.
  • Try not to scratch, as this can worsen the itching and irritate your skin.
  • If your doctor prescribes, you can take oral medications or apply topical creams or ointments to help relieve itching.
  • Track your itching symptoms and follow your doctor's guidance to adjust your treatment plan if needed. If the itching persists, consult your doctor for further advice.
  • Skin rash caused by allergies is due to irritants or allergens. Therefore, avoid contact with such irritants.
  • Consult your doctor for proper medication and apply an anti-itch medication. Follow the schedule and use the medication whenever needed.
  • Protect your skin from extreme heat and try to apply wet compresses.
  • Soak in the cool bath, which gives a soothing impact to the affected area.

What if I have taken an overdose of Crotorax Cream

Do not apply Crotorax Cream in large amounts or use it for a long time than recommended, as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects. Accidental oral ingestion may cause burning sensation in the mouth, irritation of the buccal, esophageal and gastric mucosa, vomiting, nausea, or stomach pain.
