Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml is used in the treatment of Cough. The detailed uses of Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml are as follows:

• Dry Cough Relief: Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml is primarily used to relieve dry, irritating coughs caused by minor throat and bronchial irritation. It contains Noscapine, a cough suppressant that acts on the brain’s cough centre to reduce the urge to cough.
• Chest Congestion and Mucus Clearance: Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml is an expectorant that helps loosen mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up and clear chest congestion.
• Soothing Throat Irritation: Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml works as a mucolytic and alkalinizing agent. It helps thin mucus and soothes throat discomfort caused by post-nasal drip or upper respiratory infections.&
• Common Cold and Flu Symptoms: Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml is beneficial in managing coughs associated with colds, flu, and upper respiratory tract infections by reducing throat irritation and promoting mucus clearance.

• Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml can be administered with or without food as directed by the doctor.

Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml is a combination of three drugs, namely: Noscapine, Ammonium chloride, and Sodium citrate. Noscapine belongs to the cough suppressants class that works by blocking the transmission of nerve signals from the cough centre in the brain to the muscles that produce cough, thereby decreasing the need to cough. Ammonium chloride belongs to the class of expectorants that reduce mucus stickiness and clear airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic agent (cough/sputum thinner) that works by thinning and loosening the viscous phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nasal passage, which helps it to cough out easily.

If your child is allergic to Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Use Coscopin Paed Suspension 50 ml with caution in children with pre-existing respiratory failure or any other lung disease. If you are using any other prescription or non-prescription medicines for your child, inform your doctor.

• Avoid dairy products such as milk as it may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods to have relief from cough. Instead replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, French fries, sugary desserts, and chips with green leafy vegetables.
• Let your child drink plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat while he/she has a cough which helps loosen mucus.
• Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough. Give fruits rich in water content such as pears, watermelon, peaches, and pineapples to your child.
