Cortmark Tablet is used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy in adults and children above 2 years of age. About Cortmark Tablet

Cortmark Tablet is used to treat autoimmune conditions like Duchenne muscular dystrophy in adults and children above 2 years of age. Autoimmune disease is a health disorder in which the immune system doesn't work normally and is unable to distinguish between foreign cells and native cells.

Cortmark Tablet is an immunosuppressive drug that binds to immune cells, resulting in the inhibition of inflammation and autoimmune diseases that occur due to the production of chemicals called cytokines, which are responsible for inflammation.

Some people may experience nausea, chest pain, vomiting, drowsiness, headaches, dizziness, skin rashes, tremors, nervousness, diarrhoea, and fast heartbeats. If the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Before starting Cortmark Tablet , please inform your doctor that you are allergic or hypersensitive to Cortmark Tablet . Extra care is needed when a patient has an existing infection being treated (systemic infection) or has recently received live virus vaccines.   • Practice physical activity for at least 30 minutes, such as cardio or strength training.
  • Consider intermittent fasting to help with fat reduction.
  • Maintain at least seven hours of sleep to prevent weight gain.
  • Manage stress with yoga, meditation, or deep breathing.
  • Limit alcohol and sugary drinks to reduce fat accumulation.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Drink water or other clear fluids.
  • To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.
  • Include bland foods like rice, toast, crackers, and rice in your diet.
  • Avoid lying down immediately after eating as it may cause indigestion or heartburn.
  • Avoid acidic and spicy food as it may cause indigestion.
  • Drink six to eight glasses of water per day to be healthy.
  • Healthy urinary habits can help minimize pollakiuria (frequent urinating).
  • Avoid liquids containing caffeine, artificial sweeteners, and soda, as they might cause bladder discomfort.
  • Add bladder-friendly foods such as omega-3 fatty acids, blueberries, and cranberries.

What if I have taken an overdose of Cortmark Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Cortmark Tablet as it may cause severe side effects. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

  • Patients with a history of tuberculosis (TB), heart disease or heart failure stomach disorders (gastritis, peptic ulcer), diabetes (including family history), osteoporosis (bone disease), myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), depression, mental distress, history of muscular problems caused by corticosteroids, kidney and liver dysfunction (including hepatic insufficiency and cirrhosis), should consult a doctor before using Cortmark Tablet . 
  • This medicine is not recommended for children less than 5 years of age, lactating mothers and pregnant women.
  • Avoid going near people who are sick or infected while using Cortmark Tablet . 
  • Before taking Cortmark Tablet and for at least 4-6 weeks, do not take any live vaccine, as it may cause severe allergic reactions.
  •  Do not quit taking deflazacort without consulting your physician. Symptoms such as loss of appetite, stomach upset, vomiting, drowsiness, confusion, headache, fever, joint and muscle pain, peeling skin, and weight loss may occur when the medication is stopped suddenly.
