About Cipladine Solution

Cipladine Solution is an antiseptic and disinfectant used to treat sore throat. It also treats and prevents infections of the mouth and throat lining, such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and mouth ulcers. Cipladine Solution is also used to cleanse the mouth for preparation of the oral mucosa before any injection, dental surgery or tooth extraction.

Cipladine Solution contains Povidone iodine. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidise essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.

Use Cipladine Solution as directed by a doctor. Cipladine Solution may cause common side effects, such as mouth or throat irritation, dryness of the mouth and throat, and a burning sensation. These side effects gradually resolve over time and do not require medical attention. However, if the side effects persist longer, please seek medical help.

Brief your medical history to the doctor if you are allergic to iodine or povidone. Let your doctor know if you have thyroid diseases, liver, and kidney problems before starting Cipladine Solution . Please tell your doctor if you are undergoing any lithium therapy or treatment involving radioactive iodine. Do not use Cipladine Solution before or after radioiodine scintigraphy or radioiodine treatment of thyroid carcinoma. It may cause abdominal symptoms, decreased urine production, pulmonary oedema, circulatory failure, or metabolic abnormalities. Seek medical help immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Cipladine Solution if you are allergic to povidone-iodine. Let your doctor know if you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or any other thyroid diseases (nodular colloid goitre, endemic goitre or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), liver, or kidney problems. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or are a lactating mother before using Cipladine Solution . Cipladine Solution should be used in children under twelve years of age only when the doctor has advised it.
