About CELKERAN 5MG TABLET

CELKERAN 5MG TABLET belongs to a class of cytotoxic drugs, also known as chemotherapeutic agents, primarily used to treat various cancer conditions such as Hodgkin's disease, certain forms of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia, advanced Ovarian adenocarcinoma and Breast cancer. Cancer is a genetic change in which the body's cells divide uncontrollably and spread into surrounding tissues.

CELKERAN 5MG TABLET contains Chlorambucil, which works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells in the body. Thus, it treats cancer efficiently.

Use CELKERAN 5MG TABLET as directed by your doctor. It may cause side effects, such as a drop in the number of blood cells and platelets, feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting), sores in the mouth and throat, tiredness and missed menstrual periods (in girls and women). Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Tell your doctor before prescribing CELKERAN 5MG TABLET if you have a history of bleeding disorders, heart or liver problems, radiation treatment, or any infection. Many other medications can interact with or be impacted by CELKERAN 5MG TABLET, so let your doctor know all your medications. This medicine has been shown to reduce the number of blood cells, making you more susceptible to infections. During treatment with this medication, you will need to have regular blood tests to assess your blood cells, as well as your kidney, liver, and heart function.

Do not take CELKERAN 5MG TABLET if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Chlorambucil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Chlorambucil may increase the risk of developing other cancers. CELKERAN 5MG TABLET can disrupt a woman's natural menstrual cycle (period) and stop sperm production in men. It may induce permanent infertility (difficulty becoming pregnant); If you are pregnant, inform your doctor before starting this medication. It is not recommended for use in the first trimester of pregnancy. Effective birth control measures are advised for men and women while on treatment with this medicine. Call your doctor right away if you become pregnant while taking Chlorambucil.

The detailed uses of CELKERAN 5MG TABLET are as follows:<br/>• Treats chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL): CELKERAN 5MG TABLET is used to manage chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a cancer of the white blood cells.<br/>• Used to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL): CELKERAN 5MG TABLET helps treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), a cancer that starts in immune system cells.<br/>• Manages Hodgkin’s disease: CELKERAN 5MG TABLET is also used to treat Hodgkin’s lymphoma, another type of cancer affecting white blood cells.<br/>

Directions for Use

• Take CELKERAN 5MG TABLET on an empty stomach, as co-administration with food can reduce its bioavailability. It can be taken 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal.• Follow the prescribed dosage and timing to ensure the medication works effectively.• Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.• Do not crush, chew or break it.

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
• Keep CELKERAN 5MG TABLET out of reach and sight of children.
• Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.
Side effects of Celkeran 5mg Tablet
  • Aim for at least five servings of a well-balanced diet per day that is full of vibrant fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat more whole foods, lean meats, and plant-based foods, and eat healthy fruits like bananas, oranges, and berries.
  • Limit alcohol intake and abstain from smoking to promote general wellbeing.
  • Include iron-rich foods like dark leafy vegetables, lean red meat, legumes and fish in your diet.
  • Consume vitamin C-rich foods as they aid iron absorption.
  • Limit tea, cocoa, and coffee as these can slow iron absorption.
  • Exercise regularly; however, do not overdo it.
  • Boost your immunity by including immune rich foods in your diet and always remember to stay hydrated.
  • Get sufficient sleep and manage stress which helps in improving white blood cell count.
  • Consult your doctor for an effective treatment to improve the blood cell count and get regular body check up to monitor changes in the count.
  • Try to prevent the factors that cause a decrease in the white blood cells that may lead to impaired immunity.

Signs and symptoms of an overdose of CELKERAN 5MG TABLET may include agitation, bruising, bleeding gums, fast heartbeats, nosebleeds, skin rash, signs of infection (fever, chills, weakness), and trouble breathing.
