Calactodryl Lotion is used in the treatment of allergic skin conditions. It is also used to treat itching, insect/sting bites, eczema, and other minor skin conditions. It works by imparting a cooling sensation on the skin to relieve minor skin irritation and also relieves the symptoms of skin allergy. Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

About Calactodryl Lotion

Calactodryl Lotion belongs to the class of  'anti-allergens'. Calactodryl Lotion is used in the treatment of allergic skin conditions. It is also used to treat itching, insect/sting bites, eczema, and other minor skin conditions.

Calactodryl Lotion is a combination of three medicines namely: calamine, diphenhydramine, and camphor. Calamine and camphor are two astringents whereas diphenhydramine is anti-allergic. The astringents work by imparting a cooling sensation on the skin to relieve minor skin irritation and the antiallergic works by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine), thereby relieving symptoms of skin allergy.

Use  Calactodryl Lotion exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Before you apply Calactodryl Lotion topical, wash the skin with soap and water. Allow the skin to dry completely. Apply Calactodryl Lotion  directly to the skin and rub it gently, allowing it to dry on your skin. You may also use a cotton ball to smooth the medicine onto your skin. Usually, Calactodryl Lotion does not cause any side-effects, sometimes may have side effects like hives, rash, redness, and difficulty in breathing, in that case, contact your doctor immediately.

Let your doctor know if you are using a prescription, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products before starting Calactodryl Lotion . If you are known to be allergic to Calactodryl Lotion or its inactive components, please inform your doctor. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze or refrigerate. Wash your hands with soap and water after applying for the medicine. Do not use the Calactodryl Lotion for internal use, it is only for external use. Discontinue if rash or burning sensation occurs by informing your doctor.

Directions for Use

• Recommended to apply Calactodryl Lotion 2 to 4 times daily, or as advised by your doctor.• Apply a thin layer of the lotion using your fingers or a cotton pad. Let it dry completely before putting on any clothing over the area.• Shake the bottle well before use.• Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area of the skin.• Avoid applying it near the eyes, mouth, nose, or other mucous membranes.

What if I have taken an overdose of Calactodryl Lotion

Do not apply Calactodryl Lotion in large amounts or use it for a long time than recommended, as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid contact with mucous membranes and eyes
  • Discontinue if rash or burning sensation occurs
