About Azinorm Oral Suspension

Azinorm Oral Suspension is used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) in adults and adolescents 12 years or older. Besides this, it also helps treat indigestion.

Azinorm Oral Suspension contains domperidone, which prevents nausea and vomiting by blocking certain receptors (such as dopamine and serotonin) that stimulate the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) in the brain. It also acts as a prokinetic agent, increasing the motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract and helping decrease stomach emptying time.

Take Azinorm Oral Suspension as prescribed by your doctor. Symptoms of nausea and vomiting may usually resolve within 3-4 days after taking Azinorm Oral Suspension. However, if it does not resolve even after this, stop taking this medicine and contact the doctor. Do not take Azinorm Oral Suspension for longer than seven days. The most common side effect of Azinorm Oral Suspension is dry mouth. This side effect is temporary and may resolve over time; however, if it persists, contact the doctor.

Do not consume Azinorm Oral Suspension if you are hypersensitive to any components present in Azinorm Oral Suspension. Before taking the Azinorm Oral Suspension, inform your doctor if you suffer from liver or kidney problems.   • Inform your doctor about dry mouth symptoms. They may adjust your medication regimen or prescribe additional medications to manage symptoms.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth moist and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Chew sugar-free gum or candies to increase saliva production and keep your mouth moisturized.
  • Use saliva substitutes, such as mouthwashes or sprays, only if your doctor advises them to help moisturize your mouth and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Avoid consuming smoking, alcohol, spicy or acidic foods, and other irritants that may aggravate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups to keep track of your oral health and handle any dry mouth issues as they arise.

What if I have taken an overdose of Azinorm Oral Suspension

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Azinorm Oral Suspension as it may cause an overdose. The symptoms of overdose include uncontrolled movements, which include unusual eye movements, sleepiness, confusion, abnormal posture (such as a twisted neck) or unusual movements of the tongue. If you suspect you have taken an overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

  • Do not consume Azinorm Oral Suspension if you are allergic to any components present in Azinorm Oral Suspension.
  • Before taking the Azinorm Oral Suspension, contact your doctor if you suffer from liver or kidney problems (kidney function impairment or failure).
  • Prolonged intake of Azinorm Oral Suspension may be associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia) and cardiac arrest (heart attack). This risk may be higher in the elderly (those over 60 years old) or in those taking doses higher than 30 mg daily.
  • Tell your doctor if you are using anti-fungal medicines and/or if you have heart problems or AIDS/HIV.

  • Adolescents (children aged 12-18 years) who weigh less than 35 kg should not be given Azinorm Oral Suspension.

  • Eat a healthy low-fat diet, especially in small portions, as it will be easy to digest. Avoid eating overly sweet food and include more salty food, especially if you have been vomiting.
  • Also, if you like vomiting at a specific time, avoid eating your favourite food at that particular time, as your taste for that food may get turned off.
  • Include more cool beverages with your food, such as clear soups, flavoured gelatin, and carbonated beverages. Also, when drinking with a straw, sip slowly to avoid swallowing air, which can lead to gas or acidity.
  • Drink after, or any other liquid, at least 30 minutes after eating. After eating food, lie down for at least after 2 hours.
  • If the smell of food makes you feel sick (vomit), do not cook food, as it may worsen your condition. Let someone else cook food or use prepared food from the freezer.
