Alzolvet Suspension belongs to a group of medicines called anthelmintics. It is used to treat infections caused by parasitic worms, such as neurocysticercosis (an infection from pork tapeworm that can affect the brain) and cystic hydatid disease (caused by dog tapeworms that can form cysts in organs). It also treats other worm infections, including roundworms, hookworms, threadworms, whipworms, pinworms, flukes, and other intestinal parasites. Additionally, it is used to treat giardiasis (an intestinal infection caused by Giardia parasites) in children over 2 years of age.

Alzolvet Suspension contains albendazole, an antiparasitic medication that works by blocking worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), which is their primary source of energy. Without energy, the worms become weak and die. This process helps remove the worms from the body, thus clearing the infection.

Take Alzolvet Suspension as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Alzolvet Suspension for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. You may experience certain common side effects, such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, dry mouth, and dizziness, in some cases. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

It is recommended not to take Alzolvet Suspension if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant, as it may harm the baby. Avoid breastfeeding during treatment and for at least 5 days after the last dose of the medication. This medicine can lower your white blood cell count, increasing your risk of infections. To minimise this risk, maintain good hygiene and avoid close contact with people who are sick. It may also cause dizziness; therefore, be cautious when driving or operating machinery. Do not use in children unless advised by the doctor. Always inform your doctor about any other health conditions or medicines you are taking to help prevent side effects or interactions.

• Alzolvet Suspension can be taken with or without food, as advised by your doctor.

Consult your doctor if you notice unusual bleeding or bruising, as you may bleed or bruise easily while taking Alzolvet Suspension. Do not take Alzolvet Suspension if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, as it may cause fetal harm. Do not breastfeed during and for a minimum of 5 days after treatment with Alzolvet Suspension. Alzolvet Suspension may cause dizziness, so be cautious while driving. Alzolvet Suspension can be given to children if prescribed by the doctor.
