Price ≠ effectiveness:

A lower-priced substitute doesn't mean it's less effective. Many generic medicines work just as well as branded ones.

Check the dosage form and strength:

Always match the substitute’s strength (e.g., 5mg, 10mg) and form (tablet, capsule, syrup) with what your doctor prescribed.

  • Prevention of Miscarriage and Habitual Abortion: Nidanol 5mg Tablet is primarily used to support pregnancy in women with a history of recurrent miscarriages by mimicking the effects of natural progesterone, which helps maintain the uterine lining and promotes embryo attachment.
  • Management of Premature Labor: Nidanol 5mg Tablet helps prevent early uterine contractions and relaxes the uterus muscles, reducing the risk of preterm birth and supporting full-term pregnancy.
  • Support for Intrauterine Growth and Implantation: Nidanol 5mg Tablet improves blood flow to the placenta and enhances conditions for fetal development by stabilizing hormonal levels and aiding in successful implantation of the embryo.

Medicinal Benefits

Nidanol 5mg Tablet contains “Allylestrenol” which is a progestin (female hormones) which is used in pregnant women who have a recurrent and threatened miscarriage (abortion) and pregnant women who have delivered a baby too early (preterm) in the past. It works by modulating the immune response of the pregnant women to prevent rejection of the embryo and allow its attachment to the uterus, and improve blood flow to the placenta.  It also relaxes uterus muscles, thereby preventing premature labour. Nidanol 5mg Tablet prevents repeated miscarriage and helps lower the risk of premature birth in pregnant women who have had a past premature delivery. Also, Nidanol 5mg Tablet is used to treat intrauterine growth retardation (unborn baby is not growing at a normal rate), amenorrhoea (absence of menstrual periods due to lack of progesterone), irregular menses cycle, and premenstrual syndrome (symptoms include mood swings, tender breasts, food cravings, fatigue, irritability and depression that women can experience in the weeks before their menses period). On the other hand, Nidanol 5mg Tablet is effective in the treatment of hot flashes in postmenopausal women and benign prostatic hyperplasia (noncancerous increase in the size of the prostate gland) in men.
