Composition:
MOSAPRIDE-5MG
Uses:
Treatment of Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Medicinal Benefits:
Mosagen 5mg Tablet contains a class of medicines known as 'gastrointestinal agents,' containing Mosapride, primarily used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (reflux of gastric contents into the oesophagus). It is basically a gastroprokinetic agent that increases gastrointestinal motility. It works by increasing the release of certain chemicals (acetylcholine), which helps improve food movement inside the intestine. Thus, gastric emptying of both liquid and solid from the intestine is increased.

Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol while taking Mosagen 5mg Tablet as it may lead to increased dizziness. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.
Diarrhea might be a side-effect of Mosagen 5mg Tablet. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fiber if you experience diarrhea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience excess diarrhea consult your doctor. Prolonged intake of Mosagen 5mg Tablet is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, so if you develop diarrhea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor.
Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Mosagen 5mg Tablet. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help in stimulating saliva and thereby prevents drying of the mouth.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better even after taking Mosagen 5mg Tablet for 14 days. Do not take Mosagen 5mg Tablet for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. If Mosagen 5mg Tablet is prescribed for longer durations, a regular check-up is advised.

Please consult your doctor before stopping Mosagen 5mg Tablet, even if your symptoms are relieved or you start feeling better. Stopping the medication early may lead to a relapse of the disease.
To prevent the symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), try to avoid large or fatty meals and instead eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. Avoid lying down immediately after eating to help prevent acid reflux. Limit foods that trigger your symptoms, such as spicy, acidic, or fried foods, and reduce your intake of alcohol and caffeine. Maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, and wearing loose-fitting clothes can also be helpful. Additionally, elevating the head of your bed may reduce night-time reflux.
