Patients may explore substitutes in the following scenarios:
Before you switch from IMC Injection to another medicine, here are some important points to keep in mind:
Most substitutes contain the same active ingredient - CILASTATIN-250MG+IMIPENEM-250MG, but the fillers, coating, or manufacturing quality may vary slightly.
Even if the salt is the same, your doctor can confirm if the substitute is right for your condition, dosage, and health history.
Some people may react differently to certain brands due to inactive ingredients. If you notice any side effects, inform your doctor immediately.
A lower-priced substitute doesn't mean it's less effective. Many generic medicines work just as well as branded ones.
Always match the substitute’s strength (e.g., 5mg, 10mg) and form (tablet, capsule, syrup) with what your doctor prescribed.
IMC Injection is used in the treatment of Severe bacterial infections. The detailed use of IMC Injection is as follows:
IMC Injection is a combination of two drugs, namely: Cilastatin (dehydropeptidase inhibitor) and Imipenem (antibacterial). IMC Injection is used to treat severe bacterial infections of the lungs, heart, bladder, skin, kidneys, bones, joints, blood, stomach, and female reproductive organs. IMC Injection may also be used in the management of patients with low white blood cell count who have a fever, which is suspected to be due to bacterial infection. Cilastatin inhibits the dehydropeptidase enzyme, which causes the breakdown of Imipenem, thereby helps imipenem to stay active for a longer duration. Imipenem prevents the formation of the bacterial protective covering, which is necessary for the survival of the bacteria. Together, IMC Injection helps to treat bacterial infections. Imipenem is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
