Keeping the area clean, avoiding constipation, and minimising inflammation are crucial for the healing of an anal lesion or fissure. Healing is typically aided by taking warm sitz baths (sitting in warm water for ten to fifteen minutes), drinking lots of fluids, eating foods high in fibre, and not straining during stools. If there is an infection, swelling, pus, or excruciating pain, doctors may occasionally recommend antibiotics or healing ointments; however, the right medication depends on the precise cause and should not be begun without evaluation.
