Jock itch, allergies, sweat rash, and itching irritation are typical signs of a fungal infection. An allergic skin reaction or hives from rubbing the region could be the source of the swelling that resembles mosquito bites following itching. Avoid scratching, change sweaty clothes fast, wear loose cotton underwear, and keep the pubic area fresh and clean. You may require an appropriate antifungal cream, such as clotrimazole or terbinafine, and occasionally antihistamine tablets for itching if Fungarin ointment isn't working, but these should ideally be recommended by a doctor following examination. If the itching persists for more than a week or two, or if there is redness, discharge, pain, an unpleasant odour, or ulcers, consult a skin specialist.
