It is normal to experience cramping, hip pain, and bleeding after medical abortion. For pain relief, ibuprofen or paracetamol are effective and safe to take while breastfeeding. Do not take any medication to stop the bleeding, as your body must naturally expel the tissue for the process to be successful. While bleeding is expected, please seek immediate medical attention if you soak through more than two sanitary pads per hour for two consecutive hours, pass clots larger than a lemon, or run a fever.
