I have a fungal infection with itching and want a good cream for relief. Which cream should I use and how should I apply it?

Fungal skin infections often cause itching, redness, scaling, ring-shaped patches, a burning feeling, or peeling skin. These symptoms usually appear in warm, sweaty areas like the groin, thighs, underarms, or feet. Factors such as moisture, tight clothes, sweating, diabetes, and frequent use of steroid creams can make the infection spread or come back. Doctors usually treat these infections with antifungal creams such as clotrimazole, luliconazole, terbinafine, or ketoconazole, depending on the severity of the infection. The cream should be applied in a thin layer to the affected skin and a small area around it after washing and drying the skin well. To help the infection heal and prevent it from coming back, keep the area dry, change out of sweaty clothes quickly, and wear loose cotton clothing. Creams that contain steroids may help with itching for a short time, but using them too often without a doctor’s advice can make the infection worse. If you notice more redness, pus, pain, fever, or if the infection spreads, you may need proper treatment like oral antifungal medicine.
