I am 8 months pregnant and have developed stretch marks on my belly. How to reduce or prevent stretch marks?
Stretch marks are very common during pregnancy, especially in the later months, because the skin stretches as the baby grows and hormonal changes affect the skin?s elasticity. Avoid using strong medicated creams, especially retinoid creams, during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed by your doctor, because some are not safe for the baby. Gentle massage and avoiding very hot water on the skin may also help reduce dryness and irritation. After delivery, if stretch marks remain prominent, dermatological treatments such as laser therapy or microneedling can sometimes improve their appearance. Most importantly, remember that stretch marks are a normal part of pregnancy and are very common among women.
