After taking Misoprostol, light bleeding typically lasts for 7-12 days. Bleeding and cramping usually begin within four hours of taking the pills but can sometimes start later. The bleeding is often heavier than a regular menstrual period and may continue lightly for one to three weeks. However, the duration can vary from person to person. Your normal menstrual cycle should resume within four to six weeks.
However, if you experience heavy or prolonged bleeding beyond 10 days, it is essential to consult a gynaecologist immediately. An ultrasound should be performed around 14 days after completing the medication to ensure there are no retained products of conception. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical attention promptly.
